I right click on the MODS folder and go to send to, then send a shortcut to desktop. What I do now since I have a lot of mods and hate navigating back and forth to main silent hunter 5 folder. This means when ships are sunken they will no longer appear within the campaign. When you run it, it will ask to create a MODS folder, say OK to that, after that you are all done. I don't think I'd delete the Steam stuff, since if it is what's starting the game, it will attempt to overwrite what you have when it finds files missing. SH3 Dynamic Campaign finally gives Silent Hunter 3 a dynamic campaign.
Of course, the last time I used their "support" was over a year ago, and a lot happens at software companies in that amount of time. Ubisoft support should have been able to "kill" your old install of the disk version, so that you could re-install it. The Steam version can be very frustrating to work with, though doable.
